Dr Ian Wilson is an Associate Professor in Computational Intelligence and Head of Computer Science. He provides subject leadership for the suite of computer science courses. His research interests include soft system optimisation. He is currently working with Thales, ITSUS Consulting, Digital Health and Care Wales and Aurora International Consulting on a range of security, critical infrastructure, natural language processing and soft system virtualisation projects. His main focus is on mentoring colleagues and supporting their curriculum focused research interests.
Professor Andrew Ware's research interest centre on deploying intelligent computer systems (Artificial Intelligence and Data Science oriented solutions) to help solve real-world problems. Andrew is currently working on AI-related projects with several industrial and commercial partners, including Tata Steel, Wye Education and Auora International Consulting. Andrew is a Regional Director of Techno Camps, which seeks to engage young people with computing and its cognate subjects, and Director of Research for the Wales Institute of Digital Information.
Dr Janusz Kulon is an Associate Professor in Biomedical Engineering and Computing who teaches robotics, secure programming and advanced data structures and algorithms. His research interests include medical applications of computing, design of medical instrumentation, digital signal processing and knowledge based and expert systems. Janusz is currently working on several projects in collaboration with Cardiff and Vale University Health Board and the Institute of Dermatology, University Hospital of Wales. Janusz teaches on the MSc Computer Science, BSc Computer Science and BSc Computer Games Development.
Dr Christopher Tubb is the Course Leader for BSc (Hons) Computer Science and MComp Computer Science. He teaches programming, robotics and machine learning. His PhD thesis considered the integration of navigation into a behavioural based control scheme for mobile robots. Current research interests the role of robots within human environments and maintaining safe and useful interaction between robots the environment and human occupants and users. Chris teaches on the BSc Computer Science and the MSc Artificial Intelligence.
Dr Mike Reddy is the Course Leader for BSc (Hons) Computer Games Development and MComp Computer Games Development who teaches computer systems, game development fundamentals, teamwork and professional practice. His research interests include work on Virtual Reality. Mike teaches on the BSc Computer Games Development and BSc Computer Science.
Dr Mabrouka Abuhmida is a Lecturer in Computer Science and is the course leader for BSc (Hons) Artificial Intelligence with Computer Science. Mabrouka teaches on the BSc Computer Science and BSc Artificial Intelligence with Computer Science.
Dr Marius Miknis is the Course Leader for MSc Computer Science. He teaches real time rendering, programming, distributed computing and parallel programming . He has research interests in image processing and virtual reality. Marius teaches on the MSc Computer Science, BSc Computer Science and BSc Computer Games Development.
Dr Shiny Verghese is a Lecturer in Computer Science. Shiny teaches on the BSc Computer Science and BSc Computer Games Development. She teaches C++ Programming, Data Structures, Algorithms and Event Driven Programming.
With a research interest in human-computer interaction, her PhD thesis is in design parameters for online psychometrics.
Shiny is also particulary interested in Educational research and has recently completed a research in design parameters for online assessments, funded by the Kuwait Foundation of Advancement of Sciences.
Dr Carl Jones is a Senior Lecturer in Computer Games Development who teaches real time rendering. He has a research background in medical imaging and 3D capture. Carl teaches on the BSc Computer Games Development, BSc Computer Science and MSc Artificial Intelligence.
Dr Gaius Mulley is Senior Lecturer in game engine design, game toolkit development and networks and has passionate research interests including the performance of microkernels and compiler design. Gaius teaches on the BSc Computer Games Development and BSc Computer Science.
